Flowers and Food and Veils...Oh My!

So we have been on Spring Break this week and boy were we busy!  Before we left for Miami we received another wonderful shower gift: the master bedroom duvet and pillowcase set.  So beautiful- from Pottery Barn.  It is white and embroidered and I absolutely will not allow Lola to sleep on it...promise :)

I did give her the bow from the Crate and Barrel boxes though which seemed to make her happy.
Isn't she so cute?!

Ok onto the tasks we accomplished!  We had our food tasting on Tuesday and officially picked all the food for the wedding.  It is going to be yummy, you just wait and see.  I don't want to spoil the surprise so I will just leave you with a photo of all the things we were able to try.  The hardest part of the tasting was picking which red wine we wanted: merlot or cabernet.....we went with the merlot.

On Wednesday we had our floral trial and got to see the centerpieces with our linens.  GORGEOUS.  I just know you will love them.

Tonight, I finished my veil and while the stitching may not be perfect, for $12.00 it looks awesome to me.  Besides you won't even see the stitching once it is in my hair, I already checked.  I have my first dress fitting tomorrow with Reina and I cannot wait to put her on again.  I finished the table numbers too.

Saturday is the Miami Bridal Shower being held by my future mother in law.  I am super duper excited because my mom and sister are coming down for it and it should be a lot of fun.

I swear I will post about the invitations, but there are still a few people who haven't gotten theirs yet.  [We did get 16 response cards in the mail today...woo hooo!!!]

Oh! I almost forgot, I also had my hair trial and now I know what my hair is going to look like on the big day (which is only 72 days away mind you!).  It looks great, if I do say so myself.

Alrighty, I am off to bed.  Need my beauty sleep.

Buenas Noche.

Attack of the UPS Man...

Let me set the scene for you:
I ordered the paper for our invitations last week.  UPS shipment tracker said that it was out for delivery this morning at 6:33 a.m.  I was waiting oh so patiently alllllll day long for UPS man to arrive.  I went to school to buy myself some time and to actually get some non-wedding related work done today and I was quite productive, but at about 2:30 p.m. I couldn't stand it any longer.  I rushed home only to sit and wait some more.  I even opened the porch door up so I could hear him pull up out front.  Lola decided to keep me company.

As you can see, she was enjoying the sun and not much caring that the UPS man had not arrived yet.  Finally, at 4:03 p.m. exactly I heard that loud rumbling of his truck.  I literally jumped off the couch and ran down the stairs, meeting him outside before he was even off the truck.  He thought it was pretty funny.  In fact, we have come to know each other quite well these past few months since he has been delivering so much wedding stuff.

He brought it in and I ran inside to tear that sucker open.  Aaaaahhh paper.  Here is the box in the beginning:

Oh the excitement.  I remembered at this point that I should take some pictures for the old blog so I had to quickly clean off my dining room table which has been overrun with mail and books.  Now for the goods:

As you can see we are doing a pocket fold!  I love it.  The fuschia matting will be behind the pearl simmer cardstock that the actual invite is going to be printed on.  The RSVP envelope is also the fuschia shimmer.  I ordered all the products from Cards and Pockets [ www.cardsandpockets.com ]. Great quality and fast shipping!

Lola in the meantime wasn't so amused.  She thought I was a lunatic.
Stay tuned for the complete product.  Now I am off to work on addressing the envelopes :)

Were you excited to get your invitations in the mail?  Didn't it make the wedding feel so real!

Kisses,

First Shower Gift

There is nothing more exciting that hearing the sound of the UPS man pull up outside my apartment in the hopes that he is bringing me a lovely box, especially when I am not expecting anything.  The sound of his truck is confirmed by the sound of Lola doing her best intimidation growl as she hides behind my leg.  Then the best part is the bang on the door followed by me running down the stairs like a fat kid runs to cake.

Yes, I am a child basically.  This was the scenario last week when the UPS man arrived and at the door I found a huge box with the most awesome 3 words: Crate and Barrel!!!  Yes!  It was an unexpected, early bridal shower gift.  I couldn't get the box up the stairs fast enough.  David was on his way home from class and I was patiently waiting for him to arrive before opening it.  As soon as I heard the garage door opening that sucker was open and [cue angels singing]....

Our red wine glasses!!!  Wooohooo.....all 12 of them to be exact.  They were sent from a lovely woman who is not able to attend the shower.  I was in love.  These are the Oregon Balloon Wine Glasses (22 oz.).  I love the slender stem and it looked so nice in my hand.  I wanted to unwrap all 12 and hold them and cuddle them.  Ok, maybe not cuddle, but at least drink some wine from them.  But, I have promised myself that we would not use any of our gifts until we are actually married.  I don't know why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

What are you doing with your wedding and shower gifts?  Are you using them before the actual wedding?

P.S.  A little bird told me that another package would be arriving this week!  Oh so excited--watch out UPS man.

Hello and Welcome

I started noticing that blogging has become the new trend and while I have never been very good at keeping a diary or journal, I thought what the heck, let's try it.

So here I am writing my first blog post.  I thought this would be a great way to share what is going on in my life right now and a fun avenue for documenting life's changes.  Or it could just be really boring, but let's hope that's not the case.

I figure a little intro is in order so that you know what you are getting into.  I am 27 years old (for a few more days at least!) and will be getting married in May to (yes I am going to say it) the love of my life :)  May is going to be the best and busiest month ever, not just because of our wedding, but also because I will be graduating from law school.  I can't wait for May!  I mean, what better way to start your married life than studying for the Bar exam...romantic ;)

This is Mr. C and myself.  Yeah we did those fancy schmancy engagement pictures, which I love, but am not sure what we are going to do with them.

Anyways, we live in Florida and love it here.  Well, except for the recent cold weather we have had.  I mean seriously I had to buy a real coat and everything because the cold last for more than 2 days.  We have a dog, Lola.  She is pretty darn cute (if I do say so myself) and will probably make many appearances here on the blog.

See what did I tell you---she loves her blanket and her bed. There's plenty more where this came from, but I will spare you the album of photos for now.

I think that's enough for introductions.  There's plenty of time to learn more later.

Adios for now!
